Idea Worth Sharing
At the age of 11, Dubai was the youngest UAE Animated Director. The advice from her parents was: Get an education, get experience, and grow up. She says when folks say you can not do something say watch me. Tradition is what she values and wants to infuse in her movies. Dubai believes that if she can learn about other cultures then other cultures can learn about her culture. Where will the road take her? She wants to be the first! Dubai says believing is the key!

Jamil set up Arab comedy shows in the Gulf region. This show consisted of a diverse group from various countries. He said people want this type of thing in this region. We need more stories on the human level and a move to change stereotypes. Jamil wants to revive the comedy circuit in the region.

Thunks are about independent thinking and getting student’s to think for themselves.
Teaching is about developing your own thinking. Student brains have to be opened enough to solve problems. What are we doing to teach kids to think?
3 Parts to independent thinking: Technology, Education, Neuroscience.
Some neuroscience facts…It takes 20-30 years for the brain to mature. You can’t be older than your brain. There is a 2-3 year old spread in the brain of children.
There is a difference between thinking and knowing.

Paul Bennett, What is Your Dream for Dubai?

Bennett’s Ideas Worth Sharing:
Design is the action that occurs between dreaming and being. Design brings the two together.
Shared work with how to humanize organizations and spread empathy. Work clients included: hospitals, Transportation Security Administration, and Bank of America. The focus was on taking a broken system and inputting empathy.
“We’re a room full of designers. What does this mean for us all?”
Bennett shared some dreams of Dubai from attendees and from Facebook. Examples include: be the creative capital, make it happen now, develop people and not just property, open source Dubai, and education for everyone. He called Dubai optimistic.
